I have a problem when I connect a weaker station and a little QRM on the QRG is that the switching time of Connect to real QSY is too short because the disorders stop the query. Then the timer always runs off and it becomes diconnected.
So I think it would make sense if the switch from the call frequency to the slot-QRG does not run over a timer, but via a QSY sign counter. Only the QSY proposal and a few control signs have to be processed here. Then the QRG would be free again - so the call frequency would not continue to be burdened and the unnecessary repeated connects would be omitted.
I use the latest version of Varac and I am generally very satisfied with it. Only with the switching of call frequency to the slot very often switches on the timer to Disconnect.
Would that be an idea that makes sense? Thanks for the attention ! 73 de Anton
Hello Irad! Thanks for the reply to my problem description. I am very often in connection with ZL2TNB and in poor radio propagation conditions often only have dB values of -16 to -21 dB. If there are also a lot of calls on VARAC, then there is QRM and switching from the call frequency to the slot frequency takes some time. Because there are often long pauses for the switch response due to QRM, the disconnect timer often comes before the requested QSY switch. Before the switch is fully accepted, it is disconnected. I thought it would be good if instead of the time limit, a character counter now limited the time spent on the call frequency and, for example, only started the disconnect function after about 100 characters. That would prevent unnecessary multiple connections. Otherwise, that would unnecessarily take up the call frequency again. That was my suggestion. Thanks and 73 from Anton
