Hi Guys
I've had HF VARA 4.7.2 installed for while for with VarAC_V6_4.15 no worries.
I've downloaded and installed "VarAC_V6_6.13" as I was eager to utilise the FLRig cat control and with all configured up it successfully controls the rig and reads the current rig state fine.
However the moment I performed a Beacon or Ping (first CQ) after the first TX the application crashes no error displayed and the rig is left in TX state which I cancels via FLRig UI.
I then proceeded to switch from FLRig to FT991A direct, and similar with FLRig the moment I perform a Beacon or Ping (first CQ) after the first TX the application crashes no error displayed and the rig is left in TX state which I then had to reset the rig.
I reinstalled, and went through the same flow flow (FLRig, then Direct) with Debug logging enabled and attached as zip.
My Setup Details:
Rig: FT-991A
Attempt Cat 1: Via FLRig (successfully working fine with WSJT-X, Log4OM, JS8Call, FLDigi etc etc)
Attempt Cat 2: Direct FT-991A via com3 using CAT for TX

I too had this crashing problem. Turning off narration cures it in Windows 11 Pro. I am not running it as an administrator.
I've just experienced similar crash here for the first time since using 6.13 for the past few days.
This is a W8.1 machine and I have only used 6.13 as it came 'out of the box'.
As described below, after sending out a beacon, 6.13 crashed this morning and left my rig in tx mode; which I had to manually intervene to disable.
I notice yesterday, although 6.13 was running well, I was getting a 'low on memory' alert from Windows. I don't know if this is crashing is related to mem issue.

Guys, I've confirmed I'm also experiencing the same issue as @hb9brj in regards to the "narrator" exception. I can see the error via event viewer:
Application: VarAC.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.PlatformNotSupportedException at System.Speech.Internal.Synthesis.VoiceSynthesis..ctor(System.WeakReference) at System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer.get_VoiceSynthesizer() at System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer.SetOutputToNull() at System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer.SetOutputStream(System.IO.Stream, System.Speech.AudioFormat.SpeechAudioFormatInfo, Boolean, Boolean) at System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer.SetOutputToDefaultAudioDevice() at VarAC.VarAC+<>c__DisplayClass843_0.<narrate>b__0() at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(System.Object) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunInternal(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object) at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()
Via "Settings->Apperance & Sounds" I can see several "Narrate" options selected:
When I deselect all narrate options, I can now successfully perform Beacon and CQ without the application crashing. However if I attempt to select / re-enable any of the "Narrate" options the application crashes immediate on the settings screen. I've never enabled or used "narrate" options before, so not sure why its enabled now / impacting me now. But at least its fixed and working.

Hi, No I'm running Windows 11. Funny thing I thought the version was in the VarAC log which it is states "Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0" but this seems to be wrongly saying I'm using windows 8 :) But to confirm I'm running Windows 11, latest patching etc etc Mark
Are you using Windows 8 ?
