I cannot seem to configure VarAC correctly. I downloaded to a Folder I created and called VARAC. I can launch the app but can't configure and save. It says: "VARA-HF modem misconfiguration - can't find the main VARA-HF/FM executable file. There is no .exe file present.
Next, I unzipped the file to the existing VARA folder. (I had an earlier VARA running successfully VARA HF V4.6.1). Now, when I try to configure CAT and rig type (Flex or Kenwood Generic) I get: "ADIF File misconfiguration - ADIF file directory does not exist"
Was I really supposed to unzip this file into its own folder or unzip it into the existing VARA folder?
Many Thanks Jim KD1I
The issue is to create a set of folders for VARA and for VARA-Monitor. Each will have the VARA program unzipped in it.
Note: All in the file structure. Once I made a folder VARAC and unzipped the zip file into THAT folder, everything just worked.
Next, create a folder for VARA Monitor:
create a folder, VARA Monitor, copied all the contents of the original VARA folder and then configured for a monitor in setup.
That second folder gives you the option of monitoring the signals.
Make sure the configurations point to the right file in the right folder.

Radiokd1i, I am experiencing the same issue. what ended up being the solution, if you've gotten that far.
Thanks, Gary. I did just that and then created a folder, VARA Monitor, copied all the contents of the original VARA folder and then configured for a monitor in setup.
Now, I just need to learn how to use this new app. Looks like a lot of fun. 73, Jim
OK, problem solved. All in the file structure. Once I made a folder VARAC and unzipped the zip file into THAT folder, everything just worked. Configurations made in settings and I now have a working application. Now to learn to use it properly. Thank you for your kind assistance. 73, Jim
Gary, I now have the app running on my laptop but not on my PC. There must be a difference in file structure and I will work on that a bit later. Today is a running around day..... lots of "Honey do" projects. Thanks again for all your help. 73, Jim KD1I
To keep it simple put all of VarAC files into C:\VARAC and install VARA HF into C:|VARA
Thanks, Gary. I have made some progress. 1. I had an earlier version of VARA-HF. Now it is V 4.6.5. I think that is a requirement. 2. I now have two different folders. One is VARA for the original version and one is VarAC_V6_0_8 and that is where VarAC resides. I can now click on the icon for that and it does launch but only if I run as administrator. I have the settings configured for Kenwood Generic but I still get "ADIF file directory does not exist. " Progress but not yet a solution. Jim
You are pointing to the wrong location for VARA HF. Where is that installed? It should NOT be in the same folder as VarAC.
OK, I tried to load this onto another computer, my laptop: Here goes the results:
these are the files that were expanded into a folder in C:/VARAC. I hope it was correct to put it into the folder I created.
I wonder what folder you put it into? I think you said you created a folder and unzipped it into that.
I see a file for the application but it is not marked .exe. (highlighted)
Now, for the configuration in "settings", I think this is the correct file path but maybe not.
Since this is in my C:\VARAC folder, it used that for the file path. Is that correct?
And, when I click SAVE and EXIT, I get this message:
I must be making some very basic error. Many Thanks for all your help. 73, Jim
You are going to have to send some screenshots, not sure what you are seeing. The VarAC folder needs to be unzipped somewhere. I use C:\\Apps\VarAC as my location
