Irad,
Thanks for all the work on this program. I have ver. 6.2.4 running flawlessly on the Raspberry Pi now.
As I was playing with the additional features. It was apparent you could have a round table discussion now with Broadcast feature.
That got me thinking, seems like that is just a small step away from having an APRS - i-Gate function. I'd hesitate to mention any sort of "digipeating" though. But an i-gate would allow for some powerful capabilities.
Such as messaging WXBOT for a quick weather report, or SMSGTE to let the wife know you are headed home.
Best Regards,

Hi Irad,
thank you for our VarAC QSO on 20m last week. I'm testing VarAC on VHF with VARA-FM and I think it can help our EmComm network to improve our capability. But we need to have Chat, mail and positions of our stations. I'm testing with Carlo IK5JRZ using VarAC and APRS Client but we need your help to make some changes in Varac, if it's possible. Do you really need to open KISS port? If yes, can you open a "KISS gateway port" where we can connect an APRS client to reach the modem instead of having a second modem active? Can you intercept KISS frames and simply ignore position beacons in VarAC? This issues can help in having a setup for EmComm really reliable.

Hi Scott.
I must admit - I am not a big fan of APRS. And for those who do - there are plenty of those. the VARA modem provides with a KISS interface that applications like PINPOINT works with flawlessly.
So I dont think I will persue this path of another APRS-LIKE platform. the entire essence of VarAC is chatting. And for now - this remains my primary goal.
