Could it be possible to create a Band Available menu in Settings to allow a user to select only the bands their system can use? Thus if any other user (EMCOMM purposes) tries to change bands, they can only select bands the radio is capable of transmitting on due to antenna constraints.
An example: I use an octopus antenna with 20, 30, and 40 meter antennae. There is no way I can use other bands with this antenna configuration. Therefore, it would be convenient, and less confusing to a new user, if I could configure available band options in Setup. Thus, the new user would not be able to select any band other than those available on my system. If they can't see the other bands in the Frequency dropdown menu, they can't select them.
Hi @melhuffman
I have read your request and analyze the rational you see behind this request.
When I develop a feature I try to find something that will be used by a wide audiance as niche features only overload the UI making things hard for users to navigate.
Per your request - I find it as a super niche use case.
An amature radio operator knows what frequecies his antenna is capable of. I assume you did not took out diodes in your transceiver or set it up in the in your RIG menus to prevent you from "accidently" tune to 80m. Same know-how you apply to your VFO (not tuning to 80m) will apply here - not tuning to frequencies you know you are not capable of transmitting on. I do not see why an extra barrier is required.
Still - for the advanced user - what Gary suggested is a viable solution. You can edit a simple text file and remove frequencies you dont want and add new frequencies you want. This should be a "good-enough" solution for those niche users who are seekiing a tighten control of the drop-down frequenct selector.
Thank you for you request. I am going to reject it for now.

Why not just edit your VarAC_frequencies.conf file to do thus?
