Would be nice to change power direct from varac, so i could run as standalone without hamradio Deluxe connected.

It's an unfortunate use of Terminology. The control(ALC) actually adjusts Audio Drive You see the same effect if you go into Audio Control and turn it Up/Down The ALC "Meter" just shows you the Result of Turning Up/Down Drive Ever since PSK31 came out in 1998 I set Radio to 100W, and adjust Audio Drive to 10~50W The PA is biased for optimum, and you get a very clean signal On most Radios, ALC just starts to show from @ 50~60W, I like Zero ALC
