Ok. I was in touch with EA5HVK Jose about this. He said this is for compatibility with Pactor modems that does not support -T... so he flatten it by removing the "-" signs when the callsigns are long.
Any how - I have implemented a work around. when callsigns are 7 characters, if a T is the 8th character, it will be replaced with -T.
I have a test version. send me an email so I can send you the fixed version for testing.

ok. an update. its not a bug in VarAC. Its a bug in VARA HF.
And it has to do with long callsigns (7 characters).
Here is the VARA HF log. I connect 4Z1ACCC-T and when I am connected it responed with "CONNECTED 4Z1ACCCT" without the "-"
With shorter callsigns it works.
17:25:22 - CMD: CONNECT 4Z1AC 4Z1ACCC-T
17:25:31 - CONNECTED 4Z1AC 4Z1ACCCT 500
When I get this feedback from the modem I am not seeing a "-T" suffix so I assume its a normal connection.
I will open a bug for VARA HF creator.
