Sending a PING request times out if it goes on too long (1 minute) - so I established a connection with a weak station but it took too long to complete so was disconnected. It would have completed if slightly longer had been possible. Can this be set longer or am I not supposed to PING on the calling channel? Two long distance stations - both connected but then timeout kicked in. Thanks Mike G0AMO

V7 had solved it with a 4X PING time.

I have decided to increase it to 80 seconds on the next version.

The whole purpose of a ping (to me) is to check the path in less than ideal conditions. (Who pings a station with a strong signal?). I think that the timeout should be increased to two minutes.
I have substituted a canned message for Ping. I connect, send VSI SNRR VER, then disconnect.
Many times, this is after my Ping has timed out with only seconds left to complete successfully.
Yes, I've found that the 60-sec timeout of the latest version is too short too.
