Problem: Amplifier or tuner require tune signal on band change to trigger automatic LPF switching or tuning.
Currently: I am manually reducing power and pressing tune, then increasing power, every time I switch bands. This is annoying, and it can trigger SWR protection of the amp if forgotten. Obviously this issue also prevents automatic band hopping.
Solution: Add an optional per band auto-tune mechanism.
When enabled for a particular band, switching to that band will cause VARAC to reduce to a pre-entered drive level for that band, and send a tune signal for a pre-entered length of time. It will wait for PTT enabled and channel not busy. Could even use an alternate nearby frequency instead of blocking the calling channel.
Note: Does NOT need to tune every time band changes in receive mode. Must tune before first transmission, e.g. before beaconing etc....
Note: The tuning power level setting shall be separate from the main transmit power level setting. Reduced power is only during the tune transmission. It shall not affect the main transmit power level setting.
