I'm Having a Com port problem when using VarAC FM and IC-9700 and 2Meters. VarAC and Vara-FM use the same com port thus the conflict. Has anyone tried VarAC fm on the higher frequencies?
Here able to rig control and PPT but using SignaLink USB. No QSO yet as need other local ham operator with capabilities. My setup SignaLink with Data cable goes into IC9700 accessory (8 pin din) and into SignaLnk the other (USB) cable from SignaLink into the PC. If memory is good this link: https://shop.tigertronics.com/SignaLink-USB-p-n-SLUSB8PD-SLUSB8PD.htm
The other cable I have is a USB from IC9700 into the PC (this one for Cat Control). My setup OMNI does the Cat Control (check captures). If I understand correct VarAC makes VARA FM activate the SignaLink which makes the IC9700 actually TX. So two cables used here one for cat control OMNi RIG (USB 9700) and the other for PPT (SignaLink -- 9700 accessory port).
I created a folder for VarAC-FM, edited frequencies file and added 145.300.000 and 145.800.000 for testing purposes. I can change freqs (with one second delay) but yes freq control here. Radio send TX beacon and CQ. Sometimes dup get actiavted and I have to turn off using the 9700 func button. Vara FM PPT set VOX but some test it seems also to work with settings as shown in PPT-other capture (not 100% sure).
Sharing, my experience so far. No QSO to confirm this works for complete and still have to figure if SignaLink buttons are set correctly.
The IC-9700 PTT is assigned Com 4. Vara-FM PTT wants to use the same Com 4. It seems that both programs can not use the same port. When testing PTT on Vara-FM it works. Then if I try to send a beacon on VarAC it will not engage the IC-9700 PTT.

What do u mean by "same com port". Can u share some screenshot that will highlight the issue u r describing ?
