Hi - I am operating overseas with a temporary visitor licence which gives a 3 character / own call format (S79/G4HSO). I have set up the prefix in VarAC but the prefix is not passed through to VARA-HF, just my home call. I have tried various work-arounds, including editing the VarAC ini file but believe that VARA-HF is unable to handle such a long call. There appear to be no options for call in the VARA-HF ini file. Does anyone know of a way around this or do I have finger trouble somewhere? Currently running VarAC V6.4.15 and VARA-HF v4.7.2. 73 Peter G4HSO

I now re-read and understand the manual and implications more; from the manual "VARA modem supports only plain callsigns. However, with VarAC you can define a complex callsign such as W/4Z1AC/QRP. VarAC will use your plain callsign during the connect phase, and if a complex callsign is defined, it will be sent right after the connection is established and will be reflected on the other console....CQ and BEACONS will show your plain callsign only." ALSO, CW idents from VARA modem, only send the plain callsign. I did a manual way around this by using the CW keyer in my radio. Cumbersome but it works.
