Initially my ICOM IC-7300 will set itself in narrow mode. It is a minor issue but still
quite annoying to press radio's interface when starting it up.
It seems to use FILTER2 as default.

Personally on the 7300 I kept it as is, but when I had a TS-890 I created a ini file so that it worked as I wanted it to.
That is OmniRig that makes that selection to FIL2, you could edit the OmniRig IC-7300-DATA.ini to select another or just go with it. Personally for the 500Hz VARA HF mode I set my filters to 600Hz to reduce QRM. I would do 500Hz but there are numerous stations that are not using super accurate radios and 600Hz give me some room for VAFA HF to do its AFC magic.
