I am asking this here because there are some pretty computer savvy people out here.
I finally had to replace my 12 year old computer with a new one. The old one was running Win 10 and the new one is running Win 11. My radio is an Icom 7300. I have both cables running from the radio to the computer. The USB cable and the CIV cable. The problem is that Win 11 doesn't recognize the Prolofic Labs driver. ie:
I have downloaded updated drivers to no avail and many Google searches say I should use an Older version which I can't seem to find.
How do I get BOTH ports to work? This worked fine with the old computer. I was able to run Log4OM at the same time as VarAC, WSJT-X, or FLDigi. Now I can't use the CIV cable at all. Can anyone help me. I think I need to completely remove the old driver but that's not working or I am doing it wrong.
I used to run Log4OM (with radio interface not enabled) and FLDIGI/WSJTX/VARAC etc without problems. I used those programs to do everything with the 7300.
You will need to update your Silicon Labs driver, as the CP210x 32 bit version will not run in Windows 11. I've included a link to the Silicon Labs site which will allow you to access the driver you need.
Download the CP210x driver, unzip it, and then choose the 64 bit version and install it.
There are a lot of Prolific USB to Com port devices that do not work under Win 11 as Prolific never updated their drivers. I have a box of Prolific cables that only work on W10 or below. I had to switch to FTDI devices that works with all.
