New Flex 6400M with VarAC config questions

So I bought a Flex 6400M. The initial setup went fine, except digital/VarAC use. In trying to setup VarAC, I was able to get the Com4 CAT working for PTT and Frequency but when I transmitted, the TX audio seemed to go through DAX and CAT key the radio, but no actual output. I seem to have worked out that transmit problem and VarAC works, except now the CAT Frequency control doesn't work. The PTT still works - Com4.

Backing up a little - when CAT PTT and Frequency were working, but no TX/RF output, there was a problem that VarAC could change the radio frequency, but changing frequency at the radio didn't track in VarAC. Because of that, I'd say the CAT Frequency was troubled even before failing entirely.

Flex support on a Friday afternoon is useless. Anyone with a 6400M able to offer any useful advice?

With Flex 6500 I always use Kenwood Ts-2000 config or Kenwood generic because iFlex incorporates almost all Kenwood CAT commands and it is almost 99% compatible and then I can use two separated Frequency and PTT COM , so I could operate on frequencies not imposed by CAT, but selected by me to make different tests ouside the official frequencies.
