I am trying to setup VARAC fot the first time. I am running windows 10 and a ICOM IC-7300. I have Vara installed and use it on winlink with no problems. I start Vara and then start VarAC.exe and I get the following error. It is keying my radio and have to choose Quit to shut the radio down and then VarAC does not start up. Need some help please. ot sure where to go from here.
TIA 73 Tom K9VER
@k9ver This is due to the fact that you are trying to run VarAC.EXE from within the ZIP files.
You need to first extract all the files into a directory.
Only After, Run VarAC.exe from there.
If you get this screen, Choose EXTRACT. Not RUN..
Only after it is extracted into a directory, go into that directory and run VarAC.EXE
I am having a similar issue. I get the same error that you received. Also, after I have closed the program and go back to it, I have to reenter all of my personal and rig information. It seems to work fine while running, just a hastle to reconfigure the VarAC program every time I start it up. I have deleted the files and reinstalled, but the results are the same
I went back and re-read your complaint. Seems you are missing the VarAC_Frequencies.conf file. That should be located in the folder with the Varac, exe program. It is a simple sequential listing of frequencies to use for VaraC.

A simple copy and paste to a text file then save as "VarAC_Frequencies.conf" saved into your VARAC folder should solve the problem.

On VaraC top line of Varac, go to settings then "Rig Control and Vara Config".
When that opens, on the right is where you specify the location to find the VARA modem. I placed mine at C:\VARA\VARA.exe then next is port 8300
Locate where yours is and enter it there. Now when you open Varac it will open the modem for you.

For one thing you should only launch VarAC. Let it find and open the VARA (HF) modem. There is a configuration item where you are to enter the path to VARA.
Seems like you are missing a file that is in the zip file. Did u deploy all files to the varac directory ? Can u take a screenshot of all files in that directory ?
