Problem Getting Up and Running With Icom IC-7610

I have two rigs and computers going in my shack and I am up and running on my Icom IC-7300. I simply set it up much like WSJT-X in the settings and no problems.

However, with my IC-7610, I am having problems. Although I used the same settings as WSJT-X, I have no power out.

The CAT control seems to work fine, for the most part. I run split with WSJT-X and have COM 3 and COM 4. If I have it set to COM 3, it keys up the radio until I click, "Settings > My Information" and as soon as I do that, it unkeys. Weird, but if I change it to COM 4, it does not behave that way, although the PTT test works.

So, bottom line, no power output on the IC-7610.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I just bought the software and I am anxious to get started!

Also, the soundcard test keys the radio but no power out, and it won't unkey the radi.

I'm having a problem in that my 7610 goes into transmit using either USB or USB-D1 (and I have set up the program accordingly either way) but no power transmitted.

It reports that have sent beacons but I don't any power out.

Any help appreciated, please.

I read the thread before posting, but can't see how others have made theirs work.

I have set MOD Input to all possible permutations with no luck.

Frequency control works fine and changes frequency and mode as it should.

FWIW, I use HRD, PSTRotator , WSJT-X and JTAlert when running FT8 so all data settings work fine there.

Still no joy.

It would be great if someone with a 7610 could share their settings with the group.

Chris, look me up on QRZ and send me a screenshot of your VarAC settings and VARA HF Soundcard settings.

Then in your 7610 go to MENU » SET > Connectors > MOD Input and tell me what is set for DATA 1 and DATA 2 and DATA 3

It's using USB-D2.

The setting was not USB, so I changed it.

Now, I appear to have power output (YEAH!).

Maybe that was all there was to it.

I'll see what I can do and report any further problems.

Looking through the manual it may most likely is you have one of the 3 "keying" settings in SET > Connectors > USB SEND/Keying set to ON, most likely the USB SEND one. The other things to do is in the VarAC settings set DTR and RTS to OFF. Again I do not have an Icom so no way to test, just reading the manual I downloaded off Icom's website.

I do not have a 7610 but looking at the manual you have 3 DATA mode settings in the menu.

When you hit the [DATA] key in the MODE screen what is it set to for?

And depending on those answers (answers should be DATA 1 or DATA 2 or DATA 3), what are each of those assigned to for inputs in MENU » SET > Connectors > MOD Input?

Once you determine which DATA profile then go into your settings for DATA x and see what it has selected for "Source", it needs to be USB per the manual I am reading.
