Vara HF freezes intermittently

After a lot of hassle, mainly done to myself I was pleased to get VaraAC up and running and very pleased to see stations and beacons being logged on 20m. However I am concerned and puzzled as to why VARA HF is stalling at times, totally freezes. Any suggestions as to why this maybe would be welcome, I’m concerned it may be that the PC is not up to the task.

Where does your CPU meter run on VARA HF's screen? I usually see less than 10%.

Yes, I think you are right Gary, I have made a start uninstalling unneeded programs hoping to make some difference.! 73

A new ham I mentor was having issues with VARA Winlink and VarAC. his CPU was like you described. We worked out a spec for a new "used" laptop and now he runs about 10% CPU and it works flawlessly.

I think I have made a fair improvement by uninstalling a number of now unused programmes, but if this does not resolve the problem completely I shall certainly be looking for that new “used” laptop, thanks Gary, 73
