VaraC not transmitting (SignaLink USB / CRT SS 9900)

Dear OM's,

tried to work with VaraHF (v4.6.4) and VaraC (v6.0.8) first time. My equipment is a SignaLink USB, connected with a CRT SS 9900 trx (no CAT control available) as well as with my computer. That hardware setup is running with other digimodes like ROS or JS8call properly. My problem is, VaraC is not transmitting. That means if I try to send a beacon or a cq call, SignaLink doesn't respond. No PTT keying. In the VARA commands field I also can see a confirmation mentioned as WRONG. By the way, red VARA tune button is working correctly.

After several hours of investigation and adjustments, now I'm at the end of ideas ;-) I really would appreciate if any of you guys could help an old man across the street :-)

I am running VarAC and the modem.I am having trouble setting up my SignaLink interface.The modem works good but the VarAc v5.3.1 .Do not need cat control with my IC-756Pro3.Any help?

VARA modem callsign limit is 7 characters. yours is 8 characters. thats why it is saying WRONG.

Hi Irad, many thanks for prompt reply. Appeciate it! Even if the news sounds not really good for me. Too bad, due to the fact that VarAC raises up on 11m. I guess, there is no option for me to use with existing call sign, right?

You have a great community on facebook for 11M and VarAC. I see there some people are using short versions of their callsigns to work with VarAC. But thats not a limit with the VarAC but with the VARA modem and its protocol. 73s

Okay, understood. Thanks a lot Irad. In the meantime I can confirm. It works with a 7 character call sign properly. Good to know that the reason is protocol depending. So I understand there is no way for me to adjust. I'm going to use my imagination for a senseful callsign, similar to my existing ;-) 73's and thanks again for your support!
