Greetings,
The YAESU FT-991A has two submodes for SSB: one for voice (USB, LSB), one for data (DataU, DataL). Main difference is the default source of signal for TX modulator. In USB, LSB it is the front mic, in Data it is the back panel connector. I use the radio with a Windows 10 computer, using default SiliconLabs driver and two virtual COM: ports. This requires the DataU setting. The VarAC program stubbornly sets my radio to USB, instead of DataU. Manual states that in Settings tab I should be able to switch these modes. I can not find any way to effect this. Is there anything I can change to get the radio being set to DataU, instead of USB?

Marek. got both yr email and this post. Irad nailed it for you. It is sooo easy to get a setting wrong Marek..... If I got a Euro for every time I had done that I would be very very rich ! ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: Once all is working ok.... BACK UP ALL SETTINGS ON THE 991A. That simple step has saved me countless hours of misery. I run winlink/vara, varac, JS8CALL, Wspr, FT8 and other dig. modes and at times the poor 991A gets confused. having a working backup file is the most important step you can take to save yourself endless misery. I use the RT Systems S/W here for all my radios. Yes, Yeasu makes their own version, but the RT Systems S/W just CANNOT be beaten. It is the very best money you will ever spend !!!!!

Thanks, Irad for the advice. It was set to USB, exactly as all screen shots for FT991A in the manual show 😫. A word of explanation there might be helpful. Hope this will bring the issue to resolution.

Did you change to USB-D on the settings screen ?
Marek,.
This puzzles me. been an early adopter of VARAC and VARA. never seen this problem. the systems works perfectly here, year in, year out. make absolutely sure that you have the latest COM file for your setup installed. win 10 and 11 run perfectly ok here. same radio as you, 991a, same windows op systems.
re install the COM file is my suggestion.
