Is there a list of vmail "mailboxes" where I can send vmail to, like Winlink? I would prefer to not have it send while already connected to the person.
There are no plans for integration with winlink at the moment. Maybe in the future. VarAC is a different animal with its own methods and protocols.
There is no official list of "BBS"s. But there are some solid stations that QRV most of the time with great coverage. Like NC3Z on the east coast, and HB9AVK in mid-Europe.
They have no commitment though for being active or promise to relay your messages.
You can compose offline. Anyone you can hear on a CQ or Beacon you can leave a message for. If you want full email integration that is what Winlink is for. VarAC is not competing with Winlink.
It would be better if there was some backend integration with the winlink ecosystem and have mails pushed back and forth. Though Winlink may not be able to deal with a new application accessing their system. But Varac makes so much more sense than Winlink P2P which has too many variables to reliably send P2P traffic.
I wonder if they can get that set up. It seems like varac is one of the more popular digital modes (at least on 20 meters) so they might have the support to persuade winlink to add that feature. Since winlink already uses vara it wouldn't seem like it would need too many additions/changes.
I'd love to hear about "too many variables" when using WL P2P. Other than choosing peer to peer in the session type and message, what other variables are there? It uses the same radio and same vara.
Hi KJ7QQG.
