it would be great to have VarAC for macOS as well. I see that VarAC is written in mono/.NET:

As the matter of fact, that VarAC tends to become de facto one of the prefered ways for EmComm, it would be more than welcome to have it available on macOS/linux as well... If W1HKJ can do it for FLDigi it can be done for VARA and Winlink.
Hello VarAC authors, I would like to advocate again to compile VarAC natively for macOS. Wine is not a good option for new macOS versions, better to have it compiled natively, it would be big step for all macOS comunity. I'm really sad such a good software is not available for mac...
I think that nowdays, all modern sofware should be multiplatform natively... Personally I like more freedata.app because it runs natively everywhere... In case you need a help to compile it natively on mac, let me know, I can help you with this...

As an FYI for anyone interested:
I have a Macbook Pro M1 processor.
I loaded the latest Microsoft Windows 11 beta into VMware Fusion.
Added the CP210x Universal Driver, which includes ARM (my IC-7600 uses that chip for the USB interface).
Loaded VARA-HF and VARAc
The Intel emulation in Win 11 (arm) seems to work just fine, these work with no apparent problem. I can connect to my IC-7600, send and receive. No screwing around with Wine.
Yes I agree. I use Mac for everything but WINE etc is way beyond me
VarAC.exe is a 32bit application: /Users/<user>/.wine/drive_c/VarAC_V5_1_8/VarAC.exe: PE32 executable (GUI) Intel 80386 Mono/.Net assembly, for MS Windows
It's not possible to run such an application on wine64 on macOS Monterey (12.15.1). The 64-bit applications only can run on this version of macOS. And that's the showstopper.
@Pavol Calfa As stated below, you can use WINE to run both the VARA modem and the VarAC software.

do you have the modem working? I haven't tried yet but I have got the app to work in WINE ok minus some graphical issues
