Will there ever be a native Linux version of VarAC? I get this question quite often, and the short answer is: Never say never, but realistically, no.  Here’s why: 1. The VARA Modem itself is Windows-based – Even if VarAC were ported to Linux, you’d still need a Windows machine to run the VARA modem. That defeats the purpose. 2. Linux compatibility via WINE – You can already run VarAC and VARA on Linux using WINE, even on a Raspberry Pi. Here's just one example: https://dl1gkk.com/winlink-express-varac-and-vara-modem-on-a-raspberry-pi-5/ 3. Massive codebase & maintenance – VarAC's code is huge. Rewriting it for Linux would take an enormous effort, and maintaining two codebases for a relatively small Linux user base (~15%) isn't practical. Bottom line Considering all three points—especially #1 and #2—creating a native Linux version simply doesn’t make sense. Maybe that will change someday if VARA offers a linux version or when I have more time and fewer tasks on my to-do list, but for now, the cost-to-benefit ratio just isn’t there. 73s, Irad 4Z1AC

Happy New Year, VarACiers! Santa sure delivered some exciting gifts this year. Let’s skip the lengthy introductions and dive straight into the good stuff—we’ve got a lot to cover! Launching VarAC V10.4!    📢 Introducing: VarAC QSL generator   VarAC now has a built-in QSL generator! Here’s how it works: 1. Open the "Callsign History" tool. 2. Enter a callsign you’ve had a QSO with. 3. Select any QSO from the list. 4. Click the "QSL Card" button.   You can customize your QSL with a personalized touch: • Change the background image. • Adjust the bottom colors for better text visibility.   Once your QSL is ready, use the Copy to Clipboard option to paste it into an email and send it effortlessly.   We can’t wait to see your creative QSLs lighting up the VarAC community! Feel free to share and show off your best shack photos.    VarAC QSL Generator Let’s talk about improving visibility and clarity for our advanced users. Your VarAC screen is likely packed with callsigns, and some of them might need a bit of extra context. Whether it’s tagging your closest friends or adding meaningful labels like “HQ” for an EmComm activity, this feature lets you organize and highlight the callsigns that matter most.    📢 Introducing: Callsign tags   A new file, "VarAC_callsign_tags.conf", is now available in your VarAC directory. To use it, simply add lines like "NC3Z,Buddy" and these tags will appear on your Beacon and CQ lists.   Callsign tags Let’s talk about locators. You may have noticed that Beacons and Standard CQs don’t include locators. Why is that? It’s a limitation of the VARA protocol, which prioritizes using the lowest possible speed in these scenarios—allowing only the callsign to be transmitted. But here’s the good news: what if you’ve already had a QSO with that station and have a "Last Known Locator" saved from a previous exchange? Now, we can put that information to good use!    📢 Introducing: Last known locator   In version 10.4, this new feature is enabled by default. If a "Last Known Locator" is available for a CQ or Beacon, it will appear alongside it with a hourglass icon. If you prefer to disable this feature, you can easily do so in the settings menu.   Last known locator Let’s move on. Imagine you’re in a QSO and scrolling up to review previous messages. While you’re reading, a new message comes in. Previously, VarAC would automatically scroll back to the bottom of the data stream to display the new message. Well, not anymore!    📢 Introducing: Scroll down indicator   When you scroll up, VarAC will automatically display a "quick scroll down" button. However, if a new message arrives while you're focused on an earlier part of the QSO, the icon will flash green, alerting you to a new message waiting further down.   Scroll down indicator Here’s something we should have done a long time ago, but honestly, we were too lazy to tackle it. How many times have you wanted to resize those Beacon/CQ/Log sections to get a clearer view of everything you need?   📢  Introducing: Adjustable Beacons/CQ/Log area size   You can now easily resize those sections by dragging and dropping the separators (the 3 dots) between them. Don’t worry—VarAC will remember your settings, so when you launch it again, everything will be just the way you left it.   Adjustable Beacons/CQ/Log size Alright, now for our GPS enthusiasts! Many of you use VarAC on the go, whether you're participating in POTA or on an EmComm mission. Until now, VarAC only displayed your GPS position on the screen…    📢  Introducing: GPS Log file   Now, you can also save those GPS readings to a file for logging and analysis purposes. Just enable the feature in the settings menu, choose a log file name, and you're all set. Your GPS data will be saved to disk automatically.   GPS logging Now, let’s talk about SSIDs—those numbers that were common during the packet radio days when stations had a number at the end (e.g., 4Z1AC-7). These SSIDs are still widely used by VARA FM operators, especially when working with VARA digipeaters.     📢 Introducing: Full SSID support   SSIDs are now supported across most VarAC features, including CQs, Broadcasts, and even with digipeaters. However, please note that there are some limitations if you set an SSID for your own VarAC callsign. Don’t worry—VarAC will inform you of these limitations when you make the change.   SSID support Do you enjoy checking out other stations' data? If you're already using the "Last Heard Peeking" feature to view the last 10 callsigns your QSO partners have heard, we’ve got a new peeking feature just for you!     📢 Introducing: Last heard callsign peeking   YES! You can now connect with someone and easily inquire about the last time they heard a specific station you're interested in. Just open the "Inquire" module, select "Last Heard Peeking," and you’ll have the info you need.   Last heard callsign peeking But that’s not all—there’s even more! Take a look at these additional enhancements you’ll find in V10.4:   Enhancements/Changes:   • Added new tags: <MYTIME> and <UTCTIME> to include time in your automated messages. • VMail Drafts folder: Store VMails that are "works in progress" for later updates and sending. • Added a "Skip if Active" option in the Application Launcher. • Removing queued, but yet-to-be-transmitted broadcasts once a connection is established. • Added a file explorer button next to each application in the application launcher for easy EXE selection. • Replying to an urgent VMail is automatically marked as urgent. • New tag <FS> to send your own frequency scheduler plan. • Removed the inquire tags from the Gestures list (to create extra space), as they now appear in the new "Inquire" module. • New GPS settings: Reconnect GPS indefinitely. • New GPS settings: Show live GPS coordinates in the bottom strip on the main VarAC screen. • You can now disable the "Leave a message" popup upon connecting to an unattended station (either from settings → QSO or from the popup itself). • In EmComm mode, you can disable QSY popups once connected on a CF (new setting). • Added custom CQ option "FF" for Flora & Fauna. • Send PSK-Reporter self-report if remaining on the same frequency every 4 hours. • Added an "Are you sure?" popup when canceling a VMail you’ve already started composing. • Customization of the default QSO log (ADIF) comment text (override the default comment "QSO with VarAC"). • Added "Copy Selected" on the right-click menu in the message viewer popup (when double-clicking a message in the Datastream). • Made URLs clickable in the message viewer popup.   To upgrade from an existing VarAC version: 1. Download the VarAC Installer and run it. 2. Select the current folder where your VarAC resides. 3. The installer will keep your existing settings and history.   Just reminding you all that we are always there for you on our Forum, our Facebook group, and also on our Telegram group.   Our esteemed team member Pat ON2AD, is delighted to present the V10.4 user manual. You can access it by clicking HERE.   We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Beta team and translators for their outstanding efforts. The Beta team has dedicated countless hours to improving your VarAC experience, ensuring everything runs seamlessly. At the same time, our translators have worked tirelessly to make VarAC available in over 13 languages, broadening its accessibility to a diverse audience.   73, Irad 4Z1AC & the VarAC team.   Download VarAC: V10.4.3 Windows installer Alternatively - Download this version as a ZIP package (for windows/Mac/Linux/Pi) Bug Fixes: • Preventing manual insertion of values into the wait time in the application launcher. • When opening the Callsign Lookup, it previously locked the SQLite DB, preventing other traffic from being written. • In Callsign History, broadcasts without a frequency were not loading. • Removing the extra character after the alert tag is added to a broadcast. • Fixing the troubleshooting link in the resources menu. • It was not possible to edit a VMail in the Outbox while in Linux compatibility mode. • Clicking a URL in the Datastream for a single-line message resulted in an error. • Rigctld with SparkSDR had issues due to the wrong termination character (\r instead of \n).

and much more... Hello, fellow VarAC users! We’ve been hard at work preparing an exciting new version, packed with features and enhancements just for you! Since V10, we haven't stopped to make this release possible. So, take a deep breath—let’s dive in!   We’ll start with a long-requested feature: the ability to customize the callsign dropdown list.   📢 Introducing: Callsigns dropdown customization   In Settings, under the QSO tab, you’ll find a new option called “Callsign Dropdown.” Here, you can choose from three different settings:   • RECENT: Displays the callsigns you’ve recently connected with (excluding Pings), just like before.   • POPULAR: VarAC will populate the list with the callsigns you’ve linked with most frequently over the past 60 days—perfect for reconnecting with your regular contacts.   • CUSTOM: Allows you to set a fixed callsign list. This is ideal if you want quick access just to friends or, for EmComm teams, just your team’s callsigns for streamlined communication.   Callsign dropdown customization Tired of having to open multiple applications before launching VarAC, like your rig control software (Hamlib? FLrig?) or logging tools? Say goodbye to the hassle!   📢 Introducing: Application launcher   With V10.2, we’re bringing you an intuitive tool to manage all your additional apps. For each application, you can decide when it should start, set a delay before VarAC launches the next app, choose whether to restart it if it’s already running, and even specify if it should close when VarAC exits.   Just go to Settings -> Application Launcher for detailed instructions on setting it up.   Application launcher VMails are a core feature in VarAC, allowing us to stay connected and communicate asynchronously with friends. Some VMails, however, may carry extra importance, especially during a crisis or when handling critical information.   📢 Introducing: Urgent VMails   With V10.2, you can now mark a VMail as "Urgent" when composing. Here’s what happens:   • A relay notification will appear as "Urgent" on the recipient’s end, marked with a small red icon in both the Relay Center and Beacon list. • In the Mailbox, Urgent VMails will also be flagged with a red symbol for visibility.   By default, any VMails composed while in EmComm mode will automatically be marked as Urgent, unless the operator chooses otherwise.   Note: Urgent relay notifications work only if both users are on V10.2.   Urgent VMails Your VarAC stores a significant amount of data: QSO logs, chat history, SNR readings, beacons, CQs, and more. Losing this information due to a malfunction can be both frustrating and costly.   📢 Introducing: VarAC Backups   While you may have backed up data manually before, VarAC now takes care of this automatically!   With V10.2, VarAC will automatically create a backup to a folder of your choice every time you close the application. By default, it keeps up to 10 copies in this folder.   You can adjust these settings by navigating to Settings -> RIG & VARA Configuration -> Misc. -> Backup.   Backups are saved as ZIP files to conserve space. To restore VarAC on your current or a new PC, simply unpack the backup file, and you’re set.   Note: As your database grows, backups may take a few seconds. You’ll see a clear notification on your screen once the backup is complete.    VarAC Backups Let’s focus on EmComm for a moment. In emergency communications, certain standard VarAC functions can slow things down, and every second counts.    📢 Introducing: EmComm configuration center   With V10.2, you can set specific behaviors tailored for EmComm operations. Head to Settings -> RIG & VARA Configuration -> EmComm to enable or disable features suited for emergency use, such as: • Disabling Call-IDs • Skipping SNR reports • Automatically approving incoming files (regardless of size)   Please ensure you comply with local regulations when adjusting any of these settings.  Additionally, there’s a new "Last Connection Peeking" feature for EmComm mode. When enabled, this allows your EmComm team members to view your last five connections through the INQUIRE module.   EmComm Configuration Center What if your rig has multiple antennas, and you want to use a different antenna for each band? VarAC has you covered!    📢 Introducing: Automatic antenna selector   With V10.2, you can now send specific CAT commands per band to switch your rig to the appropriate antenna automatically.   Go to Settings -> RIG & VARA Configuration -> RIG, where you’ll find this new feature.   Click the helper button "(?)" for more details.   Automatic antenna selector But that’s not all—there’s even more! Take a look at these additional enhancements you’ll find in V10.2:   Enhancements/Changes: • Suppressing 'Is Typing': Now activates in low SNR conditions, even when the other station’s signal is weak. • Inquire Window Control: Option to close the Inquire window after each inquiry or keep it open for additional inquiries. • Countdown Timer for Large File Alerts: Alerts for large incoming files now include a countdown timer and stay on top of other windows. • Block Callsign: Right-click on a callsign in the main screen to block it instantly. • Translate Button in VMails: Added a translation button to VMails, now with automatic source language detection. • New 8m Band Option: Added the 8m band as a selectable option. • SNR Broadcast Receipt Confirmation: Updated instructions on how "Ask for SNR" broadcasts can serve as a receipt confirmation. • Updating the DXCC Prefix: Added the "TM" prefix to the DXCC country list. • Auto Scroll on Callsign History: The QSO table now auto-scrolls to display recent QSOs. • Enhanced SNR data Copy: The copied SNR data from the SNR chart now includes QSO time information. • SNR Graph Tooltips: Hovering over points on the SNR graph now shows tooltips with data values. • Antenna Tuner and Selector in Rig Tester: The Rig Configuration Tester now also activates the antenna tuner and antenna selector. • Single QSO Display: In the Callsign History, select any entry to display individual QSO details. • New Auto QSY Rejection Tag: If Auto QSY is declined due to an out-of-range frequency, the tag "<QJO>" indicates the reason. • Detailed Exit Process Display: When closing VarAC, a display now shows the status of each closing task. Our esteemed team member Pat ON2AD, is delighted to present the V10 user manual. You can access it by clicking HERE.   We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Beta team and translators for their outstanding efforts. ¿No tienes ninguna respuesta? -> enviará "THANK YOU  🙏".

You might have experienced this yourself or heard someone else expressing frustration about it. "Broken", indicated by any of the following symptoms: • Loss of all settings, reverted to VarAC defaults. • Numerous error messages regarding the inability to read certain VarAC files. • Complete loss of history. These symptoms share a common root cause: your VarAC is unable to access its configuration/DB files due to permission limitations at the folder level. Allow me to elucidate why this occurrence can occur and provide a simple solution to remedy it. VarAC can be installed in two different ways. • An Installer (exe file) • A package (Zip file) In 99% of cases where people complain about upgrade failures, it's usually related to the installer version (exe). Now, let's delve deeper into this issue. By default, the VarAC installer suggests installing it in the C:\VarAC directory upon the first installation. This is because in Windows, installing software into the C:\Program Files\ directory comes with permission limitations that may result in errors, such as a failing upgrade at a later stage. It's likely that during your first installation, you overrode VarAC's suggestion, leading to permission issues. Similarly, the VARA modem itself defaults to the C:\VARA directory for similar reasons—to prevent numerous issues. So, in 99% of cases where an upgrade using the installer leaves you with a "broken" VarAC, it's often because you initially installed it under "C:\Program Files" instead of "C:\VarAC". If you prefer to keep VarAC in the "Program Files" directory, feel free to do so at your own risk, but ensure you run the VarAC installer as an administrator (Right-click -> Run as administrator). However, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you make the effort to move VarAC to a location where it can provide you with years of quiet, safe, and smooth upgrades. Here are the steps to safely move your VarAC to a new permanent home. It's important to read through all the steps before you begin to familiarize yourself with the process: 1. Backup your VarAC directory content aside. I mean copy all the files to a different location. 2. Uninstall VarAC. There is an "Uninstall.exe" file in the VarAC directory. Simply run it. This will remove all traces of VarAC from your computer. 3. Now Download a fresh Installer from the VarAC website 4. Run the installer and make sure you Install it under C:\VarAC when asked. 5. DO NOT LAUNCH VarAC (Just yet) after the installation. 6. Now Restore ONLY the following files from your backup (taken at step #1) to your new VarAC home (C:\VarAC): - VarAC.db - VarAC.ini - VarAC_alert_tags.conf - VarAC_frequency_schedule.conf - VarAC_frequencies.conf - VarAC_cat_commands.ini - VarAC_auto_qsy_allowed_frequencies.conf Now run VarAC. If you followed these instructions precisely - you should be good to go. Next time you have a VarAC update - it will lead you automatically to the C:\VarAC directory and will save you from the troubles you have encountered before. I highly advise running VarAC upgrades as Administrator every time. Simply right-click and select "Run as administrator." This precaution will help you avoid potential issues and streamline the upgrade process. Good luck! 4Z1AC Irad, and the VarAC team.

With adaptive broadcast speed, Special CQ types + Locator, VMail relay indicator, New settings screen, UI multilingual support and much more! Howdy, VarACiers!  This VarAC version has been in development for some time. Two significant reasons contributed to the delay. Firstly, we were extensively occupied with rewriting the VarAC UI to accommodate multiple languages. Additionally, we collaborated closely with the VARA author to integrate new modem-side features for VarAC's enhancement. The outcome is remarkable, making the wait worthwhile.  Now, as always, let's delve into the latest and most remarkable features of VarAC V8.6.2 📢 Introducing: Adaptive Broadcast Speed VARA and VarAC now offers three Speed Levels (SL) for broadcasts: SL1 (18bps): the lowest speed capable of reliable decoding even at -21dB. SL2 (41bps): can be decoded at -18dB. SL4 (88bps): can be decoded at -14dB. The previously available SL5 level has been deprecated as it was not effective for our needs. To ensure a seamless experience, VARA speed will now be selected based on the message length. In essence, shorter messages that can fit into one or two VARA packets will be sent at the lowest possible speed. The removal of VARA SL5 has taken the maximum broadcast length from 91 to 81. However, this restriction now only applies to the calling frequency. If you initiate a roundtable chat with your friends outside the calling frequency, the broadcast size limit extends to 150 characters. This feature marks a significant improvement in our ability to conduct round-table discussions using broadcasts. Broadcasts can now be well decoded, even at -21dB , a notable improvement from the typical limit of -12dB using SL5. Adaptive broadcast speed 📢 Introducing: Multilingual UI VarAC has supported all languages since its inception, but its user interface was previously only available in English. This limitation hindered the expansion of the VarAC user base in countries where English is not commonly spoken. To address this, the VarAC engine was rewritten, allowing all texts in the VarAC UI to be customized via an external .ini file called VarAC_UI_languages.ini. Many VarAC users volunteered to translate the VarAC UI into various languages. While this effort is ongoing, the current version offers UI support for some of the main VarAC elements in English, German, Chinese, Hebrew, Slovak, Japanese and Dutch. Serbian & Italian translations are currently in progress and will be included in the next version. You can select your preferred language from both the "Appearance & sounds" and "My information" settings. Let's give a round of applause to our VarAC translation team for making this possible! • Serbian: YU1NKA/DM1NKA - Andreja Kostić • German: OE3CRD - Christian Steger • Chinese: BH6ABO - Xiangtao Tao • Japanese: JA1VBN - Tetsuro Hanazawa • Slovak: OM8GRS - Marek Polak • Greek: SV1UY - Dimitrios Valaris • Dutch: PE0CD - Chris Dekker • Italian: IZ3XNJ - Stefano Comelli If you'd like to join the effort and translate into your language, please get in touch with us. Multilingual UI 📢 Introducing: Special CQ types + Locator The revolution in VARA broadcasts now enables VarAC to utilize the new VARA un-proto packets for enhanced functionalities. In addition to the standard CQ, users can now initiate a special CQ, comprising two additional elements: • CQ type (selectable from a dropdown list or enter your own) • Grid Locator This new CQ is transmitted in SL2, which is nearly as efficient as SL1, the speed of standard CQ transmissions. The CQ wizard has been updated to accommodate these new CQ options. Please note that the additional Type & Locator fields will only appear if you have received at least one special type of CQ. CQ types 📢 Introducing: New VMail Relay indicator The relay notification mechanism has been enhanced. In addition to the RELAY alerts displayed at the bottom strip, they will now also be highlighted in a more prominent manner within the Beacons sections. If you notice a small envelope icon, it indicates that this station has a VMail waiting for you. New VMail relay notification indicator 📢 Introducing: Brand new settings screen Bid farewell to the cluttered, overcrowded settings screen. Welcome the new tab-based layout for the settings screen: New settings screen 📢 Improved Pathfinder & relay notifications Both Pathfinders and relay notifications now utilize the New VARA un-proto packets, benefiting from super slow speed (SL1/2) transmission. Consequently, these transmissions can now be effortlessly decoded even at signal levels ranging from -18 to -21dB. But hold on, there's more! Here's an extensive list of all the thrilling new features and enhancements in VarAC V8.6: New features • Interface localization - multilingual UI support using a new configuration file (VarAC_UI_languages.ini) that comes with predefined languages while allowing personalization. Changing UI language under Settings --> Appearance and sounds. • New settings form - divided to tabs for best orientation. • Brand new broadcasts mechanism - sending broadcasts on lower VARA speed levels for optimal decoding at challanging SNR levels. • Special CQ! calling CQ POTA/QRP/NA/DX... and even your own custom CQ call. (Requires ;atest VARA modem version) • Including Locator in special CQs • Showing vmail relay notification in the beacons list Enhancements/Changes • Removing the "datastream" & "broadcat" gray labels. Changing the table column names to reflect their content. • New VarAC.ini (only) parameter: BeaconGraceTimeSeconds : Wait time from when you switch frequency until the beacon is fired (default 10) • Show only pathfinders of myself (ignore all others) - new settings. • Supporting "Enter" command in Text based CAT commands using the string "[ENT]". Example : PTTOn=TX[ENT] • Alert center is now resizable • Suppressing VARA "encryption disabled" messages for better readability. • Random wait time after the busy indicators turned off. Reduce the likelyhood for broadcasts and beacons collisions. • QSY popup remains always on-top until dismissed by the user. It is also more visible now. • QSY invitations are prioritized and placed on the top of the message queue. • When disconnecting and there is still AWAY/AWQ messages being transmitted, they will not be returned to the message queue to avoid duplicate tag transmission upon next connection. • Accessibility feature : ESC button takes to the datastream (for the visual impaired users.) • Automatically unchecking the "I'm away" when calling CQ. To upgrade from an existing VarAC version: • Download the VarAC Installer and run it. • Select the current folder where your VarAC resides. • The installer will keep your existing settings and history. If you prefer the traditional method, we've got you covered as always with a ZIP package (see link below the download button) Direct download links • INSTALLER • ZIP Don't forget - we are always there for you on our Forum, our Facebook group, and also on our Telegram group. As is our tradition, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our Beta team for dedicating their valuable time to thoroughly test the new version. 73, Irad 4Z1AC & the VarAC team. ---- Bug fixes • Missing prefixes starting with "M" in the callsign to country name tooltip. • In VarAC statistics, the "Sent 73s" was always 0. • In alert settings - in alert 7 when clearing the alert text it does not hide the checkboxes • Fixing typos all around the software • Right click on Vmail to check PSK-reporter, used the TO and not the FROM callsign • When performing Chat reply in VARA slow speed it can crash the link on the other side. • Resetting the "double QSY invitation" counter after disconnection.

I am excited to announce a new feature that Jose (EA5JVK) and myself have been diligently working on to enhance your experience: VARA adaptive broadcast speed. VARA now offers three Speed Levels (SL) for broadcasts: • SL1 – 18bps – the lowest speed capable of reliable decoding even at -21dB. • SL2 – 41bps – can be decoded at -18dB. • SL4 – 88bps – can be decoded at -14dB. The previously available SL5 level has been deprecated in this version due to inefficiency for our needs. To ensure a seamless experience, VARA speed will now be selected based on the message length. In essence, shorter messages that can fit into one or two VARA packets will be sent at the lowest possible speed. While there isn't a definitive line for message lengths, your callsign length and destination callsign also play a role. In summary: • SL1 - Up to 3 characters, stretching to 5-6 for messages sent to "ALL" with a short sender callsign. Ideal for simple greetings like "HI" or "GE". • SL2 – 3-33 characters. • SL4 – 33-81 characters. In the next version of VarAC, we will enforce an 81-character limit (currently 91). This feature marks a significant improvement in our ability to conduct round-table discussions using broadcasts. I've personally witnessed decoding at -21dB recently, a notable improvement from the typical -12dB using SL5. I am confident you will appreciate this new feature, which also encourages brevity and effectiveness to benefit from the lower speed levels. Additionally, the next VarAC version will leverage this capability by sending Pathfinder requests and Vmail relay notifications at the lowest speed possible, extending their reach to greater distances. To enjoy this new feature and ensure compatibility with others, it is necessary to upgrade VARA to version 4.8.3. No changes are required for VarAC. 73s! Irad 4Z1AC

Hello, VarACiers! We are delighted to introduce VarAC V8.4.4 to you today, featuring a host of thrilling new enhancements. This release primarily centers around a comprehensive overhaul of the DataStream, encompassing changes to its appearance and behavior, alongside the addition of numerous exciting new features. -- Introducing: DataStream Tabular view Until today, the DataStream consisted of a mere collection of incoming and outgoing rows without a defined structure. However, it has now been transformed into a structured format, comprising rows and columns that allow you to easily discern the actions and timestamps of each contributor. If you prefer the traditional view, you can navigate to Settings, select Appearance, go to DataStream Tabular View, and uncheck the option. -- Introducing: Reply on message We've all experienced this situation during a leisurely QSO, where your response to a message/question can be delayed and, and seems disconnected from the ongoing conversation. Following the convention of contemporary chat applications, you can now utilize the "Reply" icon located on the right. When used, your reply will be neatly linked to the corresponding message, ensuring context is maintained. -- Introducing: DataStream Image viewer Upon receiving an image, it will now be displayed as a compact thumbnail within its designated column in your DataStream. Clicking on this thumbnail will open the image in a separate window, allowing you to expand it for better visibility, making resizing a breeze. -- Introducing: DataStream history load Tired of the empty DataStream every time you launch VarAC? Say goodbye to that frustration! Now, VarAC will automatically load the previous 24 hours of DataStream activity upon startup, allowing you to seamlessly pick up where you left off. -- Introducing: DataStream data picker Previously, it could be quite a challenge to pick specific segments of your chat while the DataStream continuously filled with new messages, causing everything to shift around. However, with the latest update, you can effortlessly right-click on a row and choose "QSO Log - Set Name/QTH/Loc," which will open the message in a separate window, allowing you to conveniently copy or tag specific portions of it. -- Introducing: My VarAC statistics You've likely pondered these questions: How many VarAC QSOs have I conducted? What was the highest SNR report I ever received? With V8.4.4, we introduce a summary dashboard that compiles these (and many other) intriguing statistics. Additionally, we plan to incorporate even more features into this model in future releases. To access your individual statistics dashboard, just navigate to Tools -> Statistics. -- Introducing: VarAC New version indicator Starting today, VarAC will keep you informed about updates. A new indicator in the top right corner will illuminate when a new version becomes available. Clicking the link will direct you to the VarAC website, where you can download the latest version. -- Introducing: Prepopulating QSO log data With the introduction of V8.4.4, when you establish a connection with a station, it will now automatically fill in your QSO log entries based on your prior QSOs. However, should new data be received during the ongoing QSO, it will seamlessly overwrite the pre-loaded information. -- Introducing: CQ/Beacon country name Hover your mouse cursor over a CQ/Beacon, and the tooltip will now display the corresponding country name. -- Introducing: Unattended links checkbox Another significant addition is the introduction of the unattended links checkbox. Certain regulations, like FCC Part 97.221, authorize unattended links on specific frequencies only, with beaconing remaining a permissible operation. If you want to maintain beaconing functionality while, for any reason, you need to disable incoming connections while you are away, you can now find a new checkbox on the primary VarAC console to achieve this. Kindly be aware that incoming connections will be declined exclusively when the "I'm Away" status is activated, whether done manually or automatically. -- But hold on, there's more! Here's an extensive list of all the thrilling new features and enhancements in VarAC V8.4.4: >>New features • DataStream refactor - New Layout, New features! • Load chat history upon VarAC startup - Continue where you left it • Image viewer - Click an image thumbnail to view magnify • Showing the country name in the hoover tooltip for CQ/Beacons • Copy text - copy a single message (Broadcast or DataStream) using the right click menu. • Load preexisting QSO log data upon connection (New setting. Default ON). • Unattended links suppression - For those frequencies where local regulations does not allow unattended links to be made. -- >>Enhancements/Changes • Show operator name in a Vmail. • Hide empty fields in a Vmail. • Adding VFO A/B control for OmniRig users (new setting) • Applying PSK-Reporter custom link also to all PSK-Reporter lookup in VarAC. • Filter Vmails time from the past X days to improve loading time for large Vmailboxes. • Extended the tooltip popup time from 12 to 20 seconds. • VarAC cluster new ""ini" parameter: PTTLock. Enables/Disables the cluster PTT lock mechanism. For VarAC clusters with independent Rigs and antennas. • Logging every QSO by default to the internal VarAC DB regardless to the actual logging to the ADIF file/Logger application. To (http://application.To)upgrade from an existing VarAC version: -- Download the VarAC Installer and run it. Select the current folder where your VarAC resides. The installer will keep your existing settings and history. -- If you prefer the traditional method, we've got you covered as always with a ZIP package (see link below the download button)Don't forget - we are always there for you on our Forum,(https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.varac-hamradio.com%2Fso%2F5dOkN7rKm%2Fc%3Fw%3D7UEWSn9T1pmANx7dS9BWtb37GP8DWU3gh2sgjii29ag.eyJ1IjoiaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cudmFyYWMtaGFtcmFkaW8uY29tL2ZvcnVtIiwiciI6IjhmZWJhNGJlLTIwYWYtNDZiYS1hMzEzLWEyZDFmMTE4NjI4ZCIsIm0iOiJtYWlsIiwiYyI6ImViYmFjOTk5LWNkMzUtNDlkYi05NTEwLWNkOGMxZjE1MDQzNCJ9%26fbclid%3DIwAR02wewjcj_vTL6Z64Hh5lBNOJtL3DwtH44xJUCcuMSxzwz6eR4BRKqlu_U&h=AT346246WJJLqpe3f1qzjMqBXNC9r31TEunOiTwDxwyOTDV5hIm7G6rJz-llXn5sXUSugjSoZv1nfhP88fP7Sf9rzWuL8Vxvn0fn043T5eyclI9r6rqp4RNG7gm6uSkgug&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AT0CU3gtTcaFB8R_DIOtANwIM_EI9UFeQ8T5fVhBJ_5Z9iDg5WIFPDlZxKYC-x_eFeHW_1lrPVlRdRvw4ZZpxG2rjG4smQ45U12kLhIMrlrgFCAmOWezQJRREB-qEvGwsnU4upfnia7vCymfYXoAUURJOmnsoHFdAsol9Qs) our Facebook (https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.varac-hamradio.com%2Fso%2F5dOkN7rKm%2Fc%3Fw%3DXQZ6yeIdPegQ5YSmrrTjxvpD3vRwyUspSi5HMP-6-Fk.eyJ1IjoiaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZmFjZWJvb2suY29tL2dyb3Vwcy92YXJhaGYiLCJyIjoiOGZlYmE0YmUtMjBhZi00NmJhLWEzMTMtYTJkMWYxMTg2MjhkIiwibSI6Im1haWwiLCJjIjoiZWJiYWM5OTktY2QzNS00OWRiLTk1MTAtY2Q4YzFmMTUwNDM0In0%26fbclid%3DIwAR1aIEM2ah3mJ5GMxeILQrloP9qT51HK5JpZBOYpFTL81ahx3pm2y8vhMDI&h=AT1nvE9ij2Zk60E85_WP4jGi4YnCriXSiFjZ3vAwe1GpTH71jhbamn_-B3uFT5f5QiZayzp-5PMqGP4Hu_t5mOIwN12gt4i3fKm--JxVDI2nhFFueyOjGA-p5xQyH-jwPA&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AT0CU3gtTcaFB8R_DIOtANwIM_EI9UFeQ8T5fVhBJ_5Z9iDg5WIFPDlZxKYC-x_eFeHW_1lrPVlRdRvw4ZZpxG2rjG4smQ45U12kLhIMrlrgFCAmOWezQJRREB-qEvGwsnU4upfnia7vCymfYXoAUURJOmnsoHFdAsol9Qs)group, and also on our Telegram (https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.varac-hamradio.com%2Fso%2F5dOkN7rKm%2Fc%3Fw%3Dqq4rD8re-Em8Ym7sidkcIyidiBEwVYtJdbBumcCqHa0.eyJ1IjoiaHR0cHM6Ly90Lm1lLytVZHVGeFBUT1haSXpZamxrIiwiciI6IjhmZWJhNGJlLTIwYWYtNDZiYS1hMzEzLWEyZDFmMTE4NjI4ZCIsIm0iOiJtYWlsIiwiYyI6ImViYmFjOTk5LWNkMzUtNDlkYi05NTEwLWNkOGMxZjE1MDQzNCJ9%26fbclid%3DIwAR1Cs0R7m7XW67n57J9RO3sri1iK5omXdlTiqjXKR5yl7xUStd9PQfoon7U&h=AT0TXunL4hhsi3HqED7Wf-CLyskw6LEYDba6WVYNQXKGOwpdLk79Tik3pbK9AyCAMtdeawb3PCB0Hm5ZrKts7TshIm5C6xHq0cMy4JuAlYiLo0NGctD1ZFhcR1uq8xZOMg&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AT0CU3gtTcaFB8R_DIOtANwIM_EI9UFeQ8T5fVhBJ_5Z9iDg5WIFPDlZxKYC-x_eFeHW_1lrPVlRdRvw4ZZpxG2rjG4smQ45U12kLhIMrlrgFCAmOWezQJRREB-qEvGwsnU4upfnia7vCymfYXoAUURJOmnsoHFdAsol9Qs)group. -- As is our tradition, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our Beta team (https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.varac-hamradio.com%2Fso%2F5dOkN7rKm%2Fc%3Fw%3DCdj8r4aGbcC7IDhLuo6u51XK_dV119_WOwubsLk1QFY.eyJ1IjoiaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cudmFyYWMtaGFtcmFkaW8uY29tL2hhbGxvZmZhbWUiLCJyIjoiOGZlYmE0YmUtMjBhZi00NmJhLWEzMTMtYTJkMWYxMTg2MjhkIiwibSI6Im1haWwiLCJjIjoiZWJiYWM5OTktY2QzNS00OWRiLTk1MTAtY2Q4YzFmMTUwNDM0In0%26fbclid%3DIwAR1eM9fGb4D_DcBPAue0zOkfTMfoBH1dhlN0_O8ble28k0ZLZxDRFo6HQc8&h=AT29GdBrMiXtNvQjGV_uQ6SSQAJP6-_VgexH67PRmo8w5URklZDSsZVuc-d8glVpe_3vnNFnw3uOOizMvP8N9wh7luzGNMtpodHg0ANRdgvLvgqq-95Io7tNapRyJDWpoA&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AT0CU3gtTcaFB8R_DIOtANwIM_EI9UFeQ8T5fVhBJ_5Z9iDg5WIFPDlZxKYC-x_eFeHW_1lrPVlRdRvw4ZZpxG2rjG4smQ45U12kLhIMrlrgFCAmOWezQJRREB-qEvGwsnU4upfnia7vCymfYXoAUURJOmnsoHFdAsol9Qs)for dedicating their valuable time to thoroughly test the new version.73, Irad 4Z1AC & the VarAC team. -- DOWNLOAD Page(https://www.varac-hamradio.com/download) -- Bug fixes • Disconnecting the DTR/RTS ports when opening the settings screen to avoid "COM port is busy" messages during PTT tests. • IF QSYing back to the CF, the "QSY from CF" alert may show negative seconds. • When no frequency read is possible, an error pop up on screen when clicking the "#" (free-form QSY) • Handling an error message that appears when updating the instance keepalive record in the SQLite DB when in cluster mode. • When someone connects you, send you a QSY invitation and disconnect before the QSY happens, you remain on the QSY frequency and never go back to the CF. • VARA SAT bugs :

Greetings, VarACiers! Today, let's delve into the realm of images. As a former SSTV enthusiast, I have come to realize that it's high time we add some excitement to VarAC image transfer. Many of you have experienced the arduous process of sending a 100K image, only to find out that it takes an eternity. Moreover, compressing an image can be a daunting task, especially if you are not well-versed in graphics editing software. But fear not, for those days are now behind us. 📢 Introducing: Image compression VarAC now offers a convenient image compression tool with a unique twist. Taking inspiration from SSTV (Slow Scan Television), you have the option to incorporate your own callsign and SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) reports directly into the image. This distinctive feature sets it apart, ensuring a personalized touch to your compressed images. Image compressor Let's shift the focus from images and turn our attention to Alerts. Alerts have become the cornerstone of VarAC EmComm operations, serving as a vital tool for monitoring critical messages and stations on a daily basis. However, the challenge lies in keeping track of alerts originating from various sources such as Beacons, Broadcasts, and CQs. 📢 Introducing: Alert Center The latest update, V7.3, brings forth a new feature—an ALERT indicator that will promptly turn RED upon receiving a new alert. By clicking on the indicator, users can access the "Alert Center" to effectively manage and organize all incoming alerts. Alert Center V7.3 has much more to offer! Here is a comprehensive list of all the exciting features and enhancements: In addition, we have dedicated efforts to address various bug fixes. For a detailed list of the bugs that have been resolved, please refer to the latter part of this email. New features Alert center - one screen with all alerts. Great for daily use as well as Emcomm operations. Logging QSOs to Winlog32 logger. Custom Slot size - to establish your own slot-system gaps. (new ini parmeter "SlotStepHz=" Loading QSO Partner log history to QSO log upon connection. Image compression (for file send) including adding your/partner callsign and SNR reports. Enhancements/Changes Adding 4 more canned messages Adding "Connect" and "Ping" to the right-click menu of the data-stream section. When replying on Vmail, include vmail content preview in the reply. VaraFM minimum beacon interval time is 5 minutes. Added Telegram chat group shortcut at the Resources menu. Custom configuration file path (for multi-Instances VarAC cluster) - AlertTagsCustomFilePath= - AutoQSYFrequencyListCustomFilePath= - FrequencyScheduleCustomFilePath= To upgrade from an existing VarAC version: Download the VarAC Zip file. Unpack to a temporary directory. Copy ONLY the VarAC.exe file to your existing VarAC installation directory. Don't forget - we are always there for you on our Forum, our Facebook group, and also on our Telegram group. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated Beta team for once again investing their valuable time in thoroughly testing this version. Your commitment and efforts are truly appreciated. 73, Irad 4Z1AC & the VarAC team. Download VarAC V7.3.0 Bug fixes "Connect and relay now" option on the mailbox dropdown menu did not work. Checking illegal characters in the TO/VIA fields on broadcasts QSY to the same frequency resulted in VMAIL forwards on the CF. Forwarding Vmails to a station (ex 4Z1AC) even if the VMails TO field is a complex callsign (ex 4Z1AC/P) If the frequency was busy when trying to connect, it kept showing a "." (dot) every second even after connected. When disconnected, not re-queueing the tags <TL>, <QSYR>, <QSYJ> If the VARA modem died during QSO for any reason (Crash/Corrupted packet) VarAC did not QSY back and remained stuck in "connected" state. Dxcluster connectivity issue with some password protected clusters. Not allowing to type manually info the frequency indicator In settings, not resetting the psk checkboex if loading settings while "linux compatible mode" is ON.

Hi VarACiers! Auto-QSY has transformed the way we work with VarAC. The CF (Calling Frequency) is now more available for CQs and Beacons while QSOs and VMails exchange are happening mostly on slots. But I always felt there was a missing part in that mechanism. Sometimes your partner doesn't QSY along with you (for various reasons) and the link is dropped. So... 📢 Introducing: QSY Recovery VarAC will now wait to receive an "I am alive" signal after the QSY sequence. If that does not happen in 20-25 seconds, it will fall back to the previous frequency so the link remains (Both sides need to run the latest version for this to work) But that's not all... let's talk about alert tags. They are super useful, BUT not useful enough... at least not until today. 📢 Introducing: Granular alert tags V7.1.4 extends the coverage of alert tags and so they cover all incoming data channels : Data stream, Beacons, Broadcasts and CQs. So you can now set a callsign as an alert tag and VarAC will alert you (with sound and visual) that it has just called CQ or beaconed. But hey - that's still not all. VarAC lets you move between frequencies... and the missing piece in that puzzle was always the antenna tuner. 📢 Introducing: Auto Antenna Tuning VarAC can now trigger your RIG antenna tuner every time it moves between frequencies or only between bands (band-skip). This only works with supported rigs that has a CAT command that triggers the tuner. you will need to deploy the new VarAC_cat_commands.ini file in the VarAC ZIP file to enjoy this. And no, its still not all there is in V7.1.4. Here is the full list of features and improvements. A list of fixed bugs can be found in toward the end of this email. New features Auto QSY recovery: in case one of the sides failed to QSY both sides will return the me main frequency. This is done by new QSY accept / reject tags. Both sides need to be on the latest version for this to work. Extended Alert tags: now searched in all broadcasts elements (FROM/TO/MSG), CQs and Beacons. You can now get alert for specific prefixes calling CQ/Beacon, set a Broadcast alert group etc. Granular Alert tags: Enabling/Disabling alert tags per element (Beacon / CQ / Broadcast / DataStream) Auto antenna tune upon frequency change. You can set to always or only during band skip. (works with CAT & FLrig with and only with supported rigs). TCP based CAT control (For all those modern SDRs) Frequency offset calibration - for those rigs with a drifted VFO VarAC Start CAT command. CAT file now has a new parameter you can customize "VarACStartCmd=". This CAT command will be executed upon VarAC startup incase you want to put your rig in a certain state prior to start using VarAC. "In QSO with" now shows the name of your QSO partner if already had a QSO with him in the past. For Developers - New SQLite tables (Find more info HERE) - "qso" - all VarAC QSOs. - "contact" - all callsigns you ever connected with. New VarAC.ini parameters (Only available by manually editing the INI file) - ShowNoCatQSYPopup: Suppress QSY popups when no CAT control is available - FrequencyListCustomFilePath: Set a custom frequency list file using a new VarAC.ini parameter - SafetyPTTOffEveryMinute: enable/disable the safety mechanism of PTT OFF every minutes while idle - VarACLogFileRetentionDays: How many days to keep entries in the VarAC.log file (default 30 days) - PTTDisableAfterFreqChangeSeconds: Temporarily disable PTT for X seconds after frequency change (for those antennas that need a long tune cycle before TX) Enhancements/Changes QSY Back now also prompts for user confirmation with Auto selection with a countdown timer. Incoming ping is narrated as "Ping from..." Instead of "Connected to..." Detecting misconfiguration where VarAC VARA modem type is not the same as the actual connected VARA modem. Changing "DISCO" gesture to "RING!" which will create a long phone ring to drag an op attention. "DING" gesture is now "DING!" Keeping Broadcast windows always on top while open. Forcing the use of VARA V4.7.3 or higher. "Callsign block list" feature not also applied to incoming broadcasts. "Callsign block list" now perform upper-case to all callsigns. Reducing the max time for QSO on CF to 4 minutes (now with auto-QSY there is no need for CF Long links) Disabled manual typing into the QSO-Log dropdowns RST-S, RST-R, BAND Disabling VARA monitor for VARA-FM. To upgrade from an existing VarAC version: Download the VarAC Zip file. Unpack to a temporary directory. Copy ONLY the VarAC.exe file to your existing VarAC installation directory. As always - we are always there for you on our Forum, our Facebook group, and also on our new Telegram group. I would like to thank our Beta team for investing their dedication in contentiously testing and bug-reporting so you can gave a smooth VarAC journey. TU guys 🙏🙏 73, Irad 4Z1AC & the VarAC team. Here are some screenshots of the new stuff in V7.1.4 Alert tags granularity, OM name TCP CAT control, Antenna tuner, Offset Download VarAC V7.1.4 Bug fixes Alert tag highlights of texts in the Data-Stream were mispositioned. Closing "Leave a message" popup upon disconnection. Rig clicking on a top row in mail box did not automatically selected that line for he drop down menu actions. Rig clicking on vmail in parking/sent/inbox did not automatically selected that line for he drop down menu actions. If leaving settings without a change (just closing it) VarAC stopped reading the frequency from the RIG. Not populating Log data during incoming/outgoing pings. Cleaning the queue in case of incoming/outgoing ping Not queueing a report on an outgoing ping If no "welcome message" is configured and you have incoming connection, your first SNR sent report is not recorded which may fail the logging of he entire QSO. Blocking broadcast/re-broadcast if PTT is disabled If incoming files directory is a network drive that starts with a \\ it failed the file transfer Fresh install did not populate the default VARA monitor port number 8350

Hi VarACiers! We usually release a version every 3-4 weeks. But this was an exception due to a MEGA-FEATURE that was on our plate. The one you have been waiting for from the early days of VarAC: 📢📢 Introducing: VarAC AUTO-QSY Yes! For the first time ever, you can configure VarAC to perform auto QSY upon QSY invitation. This means for example, that when connecting someone on the Calling frequency and they are away, you will be invited to send a QSY invitation and continue on a slot as long as you'd like (send those long Vmails or poke their INFO/LHR etc.) Now, if for some of you find it a bit creepy, we have included 3 protection mechanism you can customize: Disable this mechanism completely Limit frequency ranges you allow to be auto-QSYed. Block or allow Auto-QSY Band Skip (so auto QSY will be allowed on the same band only). The whole mechanism is self-explanatory once you try it, but if you want to fully understand the principals, then here is how it works : When you upgrade VarAC to this new version, if you have RIG control already in place, the new Auto-QSY features will be enabled by default. VarAC will protect you from QSYing off the limits. Defaults are very conservatives and only covers VarAC slots range except in a few bands where slots 15 can go off limits. You can override the boundaries by clicking the "F" button (See screenshot down below) and edit the ranges file. When you are away (and Auto-QSY is enabled), a new tag will be sent : <AWQ>. This signals the other side that you are open for auto-QSY. This will popup on their end a QSY frequency selector. Once a QSY invitation is received, your rig will auto QSY as long as it is in your allowed frequency ranges. Only after QSY, if VMails are waiting to be relayed, they will. When the QSO ends, your RIG will auto-QSY back to the calling frequency so it is ready for the upcoming connection. the Auto-QSY also works while in active QSO. Once an invitation is received (or sent), your rig will QSY automatically. You have a few seconds to abort it if you want. Auto-QSY settings But hey - that's not all. PING are now lightning FAST It now consist of a single Packet only. Ping can now be completed in 10-15 seconds. But please note that as we stated long time ago - Pings from now on are not valid for a QSO logging. As you only receive an SNR and do not send. Here is the full list of features and enhancements in VarAC V7. And if you encountered an annoying VarAC bug lately, then take a look at the end of this email where you can find a full list of bug fixes. New features Rapid profile change - from the main screen X4 faster ping cycle (No locator, No outgoing SNR) X2 faster QSO handshake (Sending immediately upon connection the SNR of incoming connection request) Automatic QSY. (Can be disabled under settings). Full control of your allowed auto-QSY frequency ranges and band skip. Direct access to editing dropdown calling frequencies list through the Settings menu "mute all sounds" button on the main screen Enhancements/Changes Ping time limit on CF increased to 90 seconds (although not needed now) Changed no "BUSY" time from 10 to 5 seconds before Beaconing or relay notifications. Clicking a URL inside a broadcast now opens a browser Quick send "ALL" button when writing a new broadcast. When setting text from the data stream to log name/qth/loc, now trimming white spaces. When sending an image file, it also shows in the data-stream for the sender relay notifications - Showing when and where a station was last Beaconed or CQed Changing data-stream & broadcast section font to "Segoe UI Emoji" Under "Linux compatible mode" to allow Emojis with Linux. Allowing self connect (connecting VarAC from another VarAC with the same callsign) When in 'away' status and receiving a Verbose SNR invitation, your VarAC will automatically reject it. QSY will take place when the PTT is off as some rigs can not QSY during a TX. I would like to thank our Beta team for investing their precious time in testing and bug-reporting. TU guys Now go have fun and QSY! 73, Irad 4Z1AC & the VarAC team. Here are some screenshots of the new stuff in V7.0.8 Rapid Profile switch & Mute all sounds Broadcast ALL button Download VarAC V7.0.8 Link Bug fixes VarAC crashed upon narration. Broadcast popup blocked any engagement with the main VarAC app. Solved. VarAC sporadic exceptions - Added validation for dequeue operations, Checking if the queue is not empty. "Broadcast reply" was always sent to "ALL" Deleting a relay notification always deleted the last line and not the selected line When clicking a slot ID on the QSY invitation windows, the button is not marked as "checked" upon first click Checking double QSY also on free-form QSY (QSY #) Right click-> Connect on callsigns did not move to the slot like in double-clicking. If CQ Slot selector was disabled under settings, it ignored the slot on the CQ/Beacons list VarAC crashed when receiving CQ through 2 digipeaters.
VarAC V7 is here! With Auto-QSY, 4X faster ping, Rapid profile switch, Mute all sounds and much more! content media

Since VarAC V5, VarAC has a Sqlite database as its main data engine. This allows developers to integrate in a super flexible, SQL based way to the VarAC traffic for various types of integrations. Unlike APIs that are limited to a particular use case, accessing directly the VarAC database provides unlimited options for integrations. To allow “track changes” data reading, each table has 2 identifiers for every row that you can use: 1. A sequential ID – which can be used as a high watermark 2. A unique UUID based identifier. The VarAC Sqlite DB can be found in the VarAC directory under the name: VarAC.db By design, the VarAC Sqlite database is not protected by a password or encryption to allow anyone to integrate with its content. alert Description: storing all broadcasts (incoming & outgoing) Columns: • id (INTEGER) - Auto increment ID • guid (TEXT) - unique row identifier • source_id (INTEGER) - where this alert originated from (see alert_source lookup table) • from_callsign (TEXT) • to_callsign (TEXT) • alert_tag (TEXT) - the alert tag (text) that triggered the alert. • source_text (TEXT) - the full source text that includes the tag that triggered the alert. • alert_time (DATETIME) - time in which the alert was received. • read_status (BOOLEAN) - True if it was read already.
