There are a few reasons having the option to "disable" bands in the Settings is more desirable: 1) Not all users are computer literate to the point of being able to edit xxx.conf files 2) Speed and convenience of being able to enable / disable due to system configuration changes 3) In a dynamic EMCOMM environment, levels of operators' computer skills may be unknown 4) Minimal, if any, supporting documentation in Users' Manuals. For users capable of editing xxx.conf files, that option would still be viable if they were sure there would "never" be a reason to change settings with any regularity. Thanks for the suggestion as I had not thought of that possibility (though for me that would be a short-term solution)
