GM Irad. Many tnx to your Good Self and our fellow OPs who have responded. I have managed to take screen shots as H/W and you will see that my VARA entry matches yours. In fact, it has always done so. I just also tried entering your text in the 'optional' box but it rejects this saying it cannot find the VARA-HF/FM exe file. Irad, once I get in the doom loop of inoperative dups, the only solution is to close the program, go thru the entire PC to delete every VARA file ( it will NOT Uninstall) and then restart in order to be sure it is clean. I have done multiple reinstallations now and all have your correct address in VARA. I may add, that this problem is not present in my Digipan nor in the FT8 thing..both of which are very stable. VarAC is such a delightful program and is my answer to failing faculties BUT I am spending more time on the PC than on the air! DX is up again after the storm and I urgently need to be told which box to tick or untick....HI! I await your wisdom with bated breath..... 73 to all... Victor

Thanks for advice. Tried that by revising the present text to your version. Pressed the button and it just takes me to another window/file name ..?.exe? The Settings window that you show was same for my earlier versions but the new one looks quite different... actually very nice. So, I have found 'Rig' then moved across to 'Vara' and typed in your text and figures. BTW..no idea how to do screen shot. to send in. Never had to do so although licenced for over 70 years now....definitely a 'Old Timer these days....HI! .. Thoughts? Victor

Here in UK Mike Richards, G4WNC, is spreading the word with his articles on VarAC in our 'Practical Wireless' magazine. The mode has been demonstrated at the local Shefford club but at presnent only three of us are on the air with it. 6000+ users is pretty good so far but I guess it will take time to dominate the digi world. Once a big DXpedition transmits in VARAC it wil probably take off! Meantime, do keep posting on thr DX Cluster! Victor G3JNB

Agree low usage. I have started to promote VARAC by posting user call signs on the DX Cluster. It shows my entry as either USB or Digital BUT it adds either VARAC or VAR HF in the remarks column. Join me and we can start to offset the dominance of FT8 on our Cluster screens Victor G3JNB

Interesting situation Gary. I also wrote to them last November when I had started VarAC and had reply that they were working it, Said "Please stand by and thanks for your patience." We live in hope! Victor

SOLUTION : I was fortunate to be directed to 'Streaming Matters' with the solution ..as follows: Launch TQSL. Select File->Display and Modify Preferences. I clicked on ADIF MODES tab. I clicked ADD button and entered the word DYNAMIC and selected DATA, clicked on OK a couple of times. I worked! My VarAC log entries (LOG4OM2) now upload with the CW QSOs and appear on LoTW as Data......simples..HI! Mind you, I didn't have a clue what I was doing. Victor

BTW..if you rig is rated at 100 watts output, recommend you drop power out to about 30 watts to protect your PA !!

I did look in on Broadcast here in UK on Sunday mid afternoon but nobody about to see my CQ.

Dear Irad, NOT SO! Your instruction re font and colour surely relates only to the main data and msg panels? Have done that much earlier and now excellent. My November enquiry asked how to change the Monitor's green text on black panel for increased readability. The incoming texts of other station's QSOs is almost unreadable. It would be so useful to increase its font size and change to orange. If we removed the colour panel on right, could we have the text full width? Have been liaising with Mike Richards G4WNC and our UK magazine 'Practical Wireless' on progressing the mode with more UK OPS. Pleased to report that as I get accustomed to VarAC, I am now able to reach Beacons in VK, ZL and on Reunion Island on low power BUT I am concerned that so many ops use the mode as a form of FT8 and have not yet moved to keyboards chatting. GM Glenn, I really have no idea how to go about making such changes but would appreciate guidance if you succeed to improve the readability. I wonder if others have the same problem. Well, I have just followed the guidance and have my FT450D running at 25 watts with ALC at approx 1/ , according to band. See VAR to be on 15m today...QSYing now but busy away most of morning 73 Victor

Quite agree Dave! In fact, I understand that the digi stations are providing a 'nice little earner' for our dealers repairing linears driven to max on FT8! Victor G3JNB
